In chapter eleven, Mrs. Dubose fell ill from addiction to morphine. Every day Jem would go to her house and read to her. Previously Mrs. Dubose had continuously been disrespectful to Jem and his family, as a result Jem cut down her bushes."He did not begin to calm down until he had cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs. Dubose owned...(p. 107)."
